The doctors consulting from AMS are committed to facilitating their patients taking an active role in their health by providing personalised, patient-focused, comprehensive medical services, including for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients.

This health check is designed to support the physical, social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients of all ages.
Staying on top of your health is important. It helps to identify potential illnesses or chronic diseases before they occur. It is much easier to look at ways to prevent these things from occurring, rather than treatment.
The health check will involve a 30 minute consultation with your doctor and our practice nurse, they will record information about your health, such as your blood pressure, blood sugar levels, height and weight. You might also have a blood test or urine test.
Depending on the information you’ve provided, you might have some other test too. It is also an opportunity to talk about the health of your family.
This health check is available for all ages and bulk-billing is available for eligible patients. Eligible patients may receive this service bulk-billed through Medicare once every 9 months.
Your doctor will advise on your individual vaccination needs under the National Immunisation Program.
All of the doctors consulting at AMS participate in Close the Gap programs run by Medicare for indigenous patients. Please let your doctor or our reception staff know if you identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander so that your doctor can best help you manage your health.
We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our practice now stands. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.
